How to Make Gatte ki Sabzi/ गट्टे सब्जी, गट्टा करी – Easy Step-by-Step Instructions.

Instructions to make Gatte ki Sabzi

Step 1: Prepare the gatte (dumplings)
Start by mixing gram flour with a pinch of salt, carom seeds, and a little water to form a dough. Knead the dough until it’s smooth and firm. Roll the dough into small cylindrical shapes. Boil water in a pan, add salt, and gently drop the gatte into the boiling water. Let them cook until they float to the surface. This should take about 10 to 12 minutes. Time taken: 12 minutes

Step 2: Make the curry base
While the gatte are cooking, heat oil in a kadhai or deep pan. Add cumin seeds and let them splutter. Add finely chopped onions and sauté them until golden brown. Add grated ginger and green chilies, cooking for another 1-2 minutes. Then, add pureed tomatoes and cook until the oil separates from the mixture. This should take about 5 to 7 minutes. Time taken: 7 minutes

Step 3: Add the spices
Now, add turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, and cumin powder to the pan. Stir well to combine all the spices. Cook this mixture for another 2 minutes, letting the flavors blend. Time taken: 2 minutes

Step 4: Add yogurt and simmer
Lower the heat and add yogurt to the spice mixture, stirring continuously to avoid curdling. Let it simmer for 5 minutes until the gravy thickens. Time taken: 5 minutes

Step 5: Add the gatte to the curry
Once the gatte are done, remove them from the boiling water and cut them into bite-sized pieces. Add these pieces into the curry and mix gently. Let the gatte soak in the gravy for another 5 minutes on low heat, so they absorb the flavors. Time taken: 5 minutes

Step 6: Garnish and serve
Garnish the Gatte ki Sabzi with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with roti, naan, or rice. Time taken: 2 minutes

Total Time: Approximately 35 to 40 minutes
