Stuffed Bread Pakoda/ ब्रेड पकोड़ा

Instructions:

1. Prepare the Filling:

   • Heat 1 tsp of oil in a pan on medium heat. Add grated ginger and chopped green chili, sauté for a minute until aromatic.
   • Add the boiled and mashed potatoes to the pan. Mix well.
   • Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, garam masala, and salt. Stir to combine all the spices evenly with the potatoes.
   • Add chopped coriander leaves and lemon juice. Mix well and cook for another 2-3 minutes.
   • Turn off the heat and let the filling cool slightly.

2. Prepare the Batter:

   • In a mixing bowl, add gram flour (besan), carom seeds (ajwain), red chili powder, turmeric powder, and salt.
   • Gradually add water to the mixture while stirring continuously to form a smooth, thick batter. The consistency should be thick enough to coat the bread slices evenly.

3. Assemble the Bread Pakoda:

   • Take a slice of bread and spread the prepared potato filling evenly over it. Cover with another slice of bread to make a sandwich.
   • Press the sandwich gently to ensure it holds together.

4. Fry the Pakoda:

   • Heat oil in a deep frying pan on medium heat.
   • Once the oil is hot, dip the prepared bread sandwich into the gram flour batter, ensuring it is coated evenly on all sides.
   • Carefully place the coated sandwich into the hot oil. Fry until golden brown and crispy on both sides, turning occasionally to ensure even cooking.
   • Once done, remove the Bread Pakoda from the oil and place it on a paper towel to drain excess oil.

5. Serve:

   • Serve the hot, crispy Bread Pakodas with a side of mint chutney, tamarind chutney, or tomato ketchup.
   • Enjoy this delicious North Indian snack with a cup of hot chai!

Tips:

• You can add other ingredients to the filling, such as peas, paneer, or spices, to suit your taste.
• Ensure the oil is at the right temperature—not too hot, or the pakodas will burn on the outside and remain uncooked inside.
